My One-Sided Argument with Raid: Shadow Legend’s Marketing Department

Some may tilt at windmills. I tilt at lazy marketers for mobile games. But I pick which giants I joust; mine is Raid: Shadow Legends.

I played Raid: Shadow Legends for a couple weeks back in the summer of 2020, intrigued by the quality and humor of their internet advertising at the time. It was a bit of a grind, as you had to merge units to make better units to make better units and so on. Graphics were decent, the auto battling was nice, but in the end I stopped playing and moved on. I did like their advertising.

Lately they’ve fallen on hard times. They’ve outsourced their internet marketing to a company that makes little spammy ads I keep finding here and there on the internet. And the thing about them, is that they are all lies. And most of them imply that maybe there’s lots of porn and nekkid wimmyn to be seen in the game. Many times, the fake art they use has been taken from clip art, fantasy art websites, and even other games. I’ve made it my sacred mission to call them out on this.

This fight has been waged on Twitter… until now. Now, it gets real.

I did these, though

I eventually had to do some of my own, looking for those sweet internet marketing bucks. So far, no takers. Art is from Dall-E 2 renders I didn’t end up using anywhere.

First picture is from a Xamã Shaman album. Second from a FB Klondike card game. Third one I couldn’t find original of.

More Raid Shadow Legends misinformation. This is an autobattler. It is almost impossible to lose in five minutes. Your first few hours will likely be merging units and leveling them up. Picture is not from the game (obviously) but unsure of its source.

More stolen art from #RAIDshadowlegends advertisements, as they feel revealing what the game is actually like wouldn’t get them users. The pic on the left is Ciri from the Witcher, the pic on the right is currently on sale as a fantasy print from Society 6.

Today in misleading #RaidShadowLegends ads: They actually use an image from another entirely different game, Mech Arena: Robot Showdown. So if you have a computer and want a beautiful game, why not try Mech Arena? Smooth move, RSL.

I don’t get it. Is the actress playing RAID: Shadow Legends on her phone, or is an insurance company app the most realistic PC game of 2022? Confused.

What does Raid: Shadow Legends have to do with being over 40? Anyway, today in @RaidLegends‘ adventures in deceptive advertising, they haven’t even capitalized “RAID” correctly, instead it is “raid” here. Artwork presumably stolen from artist @DrZenith at https://artstation.com/artwork/GXlPN3

I haven’t been capturing Raid Shadow Legends’ deceptive advertising lately, but they’re still misrepresenting their game. This picture is from a stock photograph of a 3D render of a “steampunk girl”. https://alamy.com/3d-computer-graphics-of-a-lady-with-green-eyes-and-topper-image462405399.html… If a game company feels it can’t show you their game…?

After a pause, RAID: Shadow Legends is back to their deceptive game advertising. Couldn’t find original for first pic, middle one is “Swamp Breed” by RGUS. https://deviantart.com/rgus/art/Swamp-Breed-484092762… Last one isn’t from RSL but just thought it was interesting that this is the concept behind SCYTHE.

In today’s found deceptive RAID: Shadow Legends scam ads, RAID is capitalized correctly. Art is not from the game (does that even need to be said anymore?), but is from this stock photo –> https://dreamstime.com/portrait-fantasy-female-her-mythical-little-dragon-portrait-fantasy-female-her-mythical-little-dragon-d-image192387708…. They should have used the entire photo.

I wonder if RAID: Shadow Legends has EVER done a Outbrains ad that reflects anything real about their game? This image is a stock Adobe image, but I also found it on Amazon as the cover of one of a series of kinky sex books. The link does not go to that. https://stock.adobe.com/ca/images/portrait-of-a-group-of-fantasy-females-embarking-on-an-epic-adventure-the-warrior-elf-archer-and-scout-assassin-3d-rendering/217739737?prev_url=detail
