Jurassic World: The Legacy of Isla Nublar: Finished!

We’re just closing up shop on games these days.

A few weeks ago, I wrote about the penultimate main adventure on Isla Nublar, where we were trying to get the last of the civilians off of the dino-infested island before we closed up the island forever.

Well, we went back. Dinosaurs have escaped the island, and we need to get back and get the lab records for any information we can find about the beasts, and maybe try to rescue what dinos we can. To help with that, we brought a mercenary crew.

Ya know, it’s weird. Humans can make animals go extinct without any effort whatsoever. Rhinos, elephants, tigers, anything that moves, we can kill them all. Dinosaurs, however, different story. Why can’t we just… kill them all?

It’s because bad actors like ourselves keep making heroic efforts to keep them alive, that’s why.

We’re… not very smart.

They look so peaceful from up here…

Last time we evacuated the island, meaning that this time, we had to bring everyone back. We never know ahead of time what we’ll have to do when we get to the island, but it usually involves kids getting free and trying their very best to get eaten.

Since kids are skinny and boney and not considered healthy food for dinosaurs, we usually try to separate the two before we’re having to take drastic measures. We were lucky, this time — no kids, no wandering tour groups, it was just us and the mercs rescuing dinosaurs.

All we had to do was herd them to the merc base, where a cargo helicopter would airlift them to safely. We naturally had to get the samples from the lab, certain supplies from the discovery center, and use the control center to try and track down Chris Pratt’s pet velociraptor, Blue.

Well, we managed to get a good few of the dinos into the merc’s care, along with Blue, and we were pretty satisfied with ourselves… until we found out that the mercs intended to sell off the dinosaurs as weapons.

The game all packed away

The Finale

Well, it turns out the mercs were going back to the island for second helpings, so every single person who was ever associated with Jurassic Park or Jurassic World — even the dead ones — were activated and sent back to the island to rescue all the dinosaurs before the mercs could clear the island.

It was a race of hapless park employees and lawyers against highly trained mercenaries.

And then the volcano exploded. BOOM.

The mercs were on one side of the island, marking dinosaurs and grabbing them if we didn’t get to them first. Our rescue boat was on the other side, and we were grabbing all the crates we could find in the Discovery Center to get those dinos safe and secure on the ship.

We didn’t have to get every dino. We just had to get more than the mercs and our people at the evac point (again) to win.

And we did win. We figured that we could let the mercs win a few dinos and still succeed, and so that’s what we did. The bare minimum.

And after six months or so? We have finished Jurassic World: The Legacy of Isla Nublar.

There are big gaps in our game nights…

TL;DR

We really enjoyed our time on the island. We can replay the finale as a repeatable mission as many times as we like. We’re pretty sure we’ll be heading back to the island at some point. But for now, we’re going to move on to different games for awhile.

    • I don’t know if this bit was in any movie. I saw Dominion, but I think it took place on a different island. I might be wrong about that. And they had like a nuke or something.
