Palworld @ 100%. Finally.

I always said that I would quit Palworld when I finally defeated the fifth tower boss, the 250K health Shadowbeak. Then, they added three raids (Bellanoir, Bellanoir Libero, and Bellanoir Libero (Ultra)), and I said I would quit Palworld when I had defeated the fifth tower boss, and also Bellanoir. And now they are adding PvP through the Arena.

So. I had been playing on a multiplayer server. It is one rented by my son-in-law, and since I am the only person still playing Palworld, I have a concern that he’ll shut it down sometime. I opted to restart in single player mode on my own computer.

Palworld makes this easy; you can boost your gained experience, boost drops, and boost the number of enemies that appear, and I did all those things. It would become challenging when THREE grassy elephants decided to tromp through my base instead of just one, but it all paid off when I went back to kill them later and got three times the drops.

Three Jetragons were too much, so I stepped that setting back, and the one for extra experience, once I hit 50 for the second time.

I was ready to finish the game.

I had a checklist.

First, I needed the legendary assault rifle blueprint. This drops from Blazemut, a fire Pal on Mount Obsidian. The drop rate is abysmally low, but I’d gotten it on my previous account and I got it here, too.

Next step was to capture Jetragon; ideally a few. I did this on my first account by tossing legendary Palspheres at its tail while it was sleeping. This time, though, it woke up and started attacking. I fled that time, but came back with a Reptyro who eventually managed to lower its health enough, with me plinking poison crossbow bolts at it, to get it in my Palsphere. First time on either account that I actually fought it successfully. I did this again to get a partner for breeding.

Third step was to catch Gobfins. Gobfins in your party boost player attack power. While leveling up, I’d also prioritized player attack. I eventually managed to acquire the perfect Jetragon to go against the Shadowbeak boss, who is weak to Dragon attacks. I had my legendary assault rifle with a couple thousand rounds of ammo bought from a wandering merchant. Headed to the Pal Genetics Research Tower and did the deed.

The raid battle vs Bellanoir Libero

I’d killed the normal level 35 Bellanoir several times on my first account, but never managed it against her big sister, Bellanoir Libero. First up was to capture Astegon, a Dark Dragon type that is strong vs many of Libero’s attacks. Libero has two phases; in the first phase, she is a Dark type, weak to Dragon moves and strong vs Normal type Pals. In the second phase, she switches to an Ice type, strong against Dragons and weak to Fire moves.

She encourages players to use dragon types, then switches midway, heals and kills them. This is what happened to me back on the other account. My plan here was to focus on Jetragons for her first phase, then switch to Astegons with fire moves in the second phase.

I was having trouble finding both genders of Astegon in their Alpha location, so I lurked around Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3 until I got the ones I needed. The breeding corral didn’t want to receive them, though, but eventually it did. Weird.

Once I’d bred a sufficient number and got them leveled up (not hard with increased XP turned on), I needed to train up a Chillet. This is usually the first Alpha boss you meet at level 11. If you are riding one, your attacks become Dragon type attacks.

So, I had a Palbox full of Jetragons and Astegons, plus a couple other types to fill out the roster. I had Chillet to ride. I had four Gobfin to multiply my damage. I was ready.

It was a light show — play the video up there. Some decent drops, but the drop I wanted most was the egg to hatch a Libero of my own. I hatched it, got it to max level, and had some fun smiting tower bosses with her. She could do the first two, no problem, struggled with the third, and I left it at that. Those grass elephants? It was sad, really.

Palworld Arena official trailer

Anyway, the game is 100% on Steam, I can go back to Dragon’s Dogma.

Or can I?

I still have things to do in game. I need to work on getting the best armor, work on getting the rocket launcher, make a nice base instead of the terrible mess I have now. I would love to just copy my old bases from the old game, but it doesn’t look like that is something I can do.

Palworld Arena looks cool. I loved Pokemon Battle Stadium on the Nintendo 64 back in the day. But I have no idea how it would work. I used quick leveling and fast hatching to build my army. That would seem to put me at an advantage against players who didn’t do that. And, if it’s just multiplayer servers, well, the one I’m on is just me at the moment. So, we’ll see.

Anyway. Done with Palworld for now. Maybe.
