This… was a fun scenario. It’s been awhile since we last played, and I’m not sure what the predecessor to this mission was. The last scenario was a boss battle in the Ancient Spire, but I don’t think this elevator is there.
Not important, we’re at the top of an ancient elevator and after some tinkering, we got it working! And now we’re trapped on an elevator with a bunch of stuff that wants to kill us and some extra surprises along the way.
Party:
- Trapper Lv 3 — PQ: Kill ten of certain mobs, none of which are in this scenario. Grand total so far: 1.
- Crashing Tide Lv 3 — PQ: Kill fifteen ruined machines, several of which are in this scenario. I think he needs nine or ten after this scenario.
- Infuser Lv 3 — PQ: Make ten or so enhancements, so needs all the money. Don’t believe he has made any enhancements; they are expensive.
- Drifter Lv 4 — PQ: Complete twelve challenges. Finishing this scenario gets her halfway.
The deal with this scenario is that we are descending down for twelve rounds. We pass platforms on the north and south that have cannon on them, and they can reach us from two floors above to two floors below. Ruined machines and new mob Bladespinners drop down on to the platform from the elevator shaft walls and the ceiling above. At certain times, rocks fall from the ceiling, crushing whomever is beneath them. I don’t know if that includes enemies; I’d think it would, but it didn’t come up.
My (Trapper) scenario goal was to kill an enemy by four or more damage more than necessary.
I was sweating this; as a Trapper, my skills are making enemies move the way I want them to move, and forcing them into traps. The traps I make top out at five damage, but I can combine them to make bigger traps, but this takes time. I also have, by far, the least health in this current party. While running around laying traps, monsters just love to snipe at me.
The scenario was actually fairly easy; we could have done this at +1 and I think it would have been just as easy. The ruined machines died easily; the cannon could mostly be avoided. The bladespinners were nasty. We were so good at killing things that we had a couple rounds at the end where we could just heal and set things up; so I spent a few turns making a fourteen damage trap. Bladespinner have ten health, so one shotting it would get me my scenario goal. But I wasn’t taking any chances, and I moved slowly to ensure I moved last. I also urged the others to put some damage on it. And good thing; it spawned with a Shield 2, so I would have to have a 16 power trap to one shot it — and I flipped a -1 on my damage modifier, so I’d have had to have a 17 power trap to kill it from full health. Luckily, the Drifter and the Crashing Tide did some damage to it, so even with the shield and the negative modifier, I killed it with damage to spare and made my goal.
When we hit the bottom floor, the floor of an immense cavern, we saw two paths leading to the left and the right. Down the left path, we could see the flashing of an alarm light, and we knew the machines there would be ready for us. To the right… a library?
We chose the library. No clue what we’re going to find there. They are both chained scenarios; no heading back to town to level up or retire, which is bad for me, as I would have leveled up now if we’d been able to head back to Frosthaven.
Time to start some reading.
There was a treasure chest in this scenario, but it was just gold.
