Frosthaven #8 — Crystal Trench

When last we met, both the Boneshaper and the Banner Spear retired and were replaced by the Crashing Tide and the Trapper, respectively. We gave up a lot of summons, and their tanking and damage, and the tanking, healing and AE damage of the Banner Spear, and in return got… well, still to be determined.

Luckily, we chose for our next scenario to start along the Machine plotline in order that the fourth member of our little band, the Blink Blade, could retire. He just needs to land the killing blow on two robotic boltthrowers, so we’re trying to give him that chance.

This scenario is set in a narrow corridor bounded on both sides by dark, snowy forest. We were chased into this place by baying wolves; we must run until they give up the hunt.

Unfortunately for us, the way isn’t clear. There are polar bears, that must be killed, and snow imps, that really need to be killed. After the first door is opened, wolves appear us to nip at our heals.

The Drifter is the obvious tank, but the Blink Blade’s insane mobility meant he could dash in, do some slicing, and jump out.

The reason this scenario was really great for the Trapper is because they could just keep dropping traps behind the party, weakening or outright killing some of the pursuing wolves; Trapper was also laying down healing and bless traps to help out the party.

Starting positions

The Town Hall Challenge was that some character or characters would take a point of damage whenever an element expired without being used. I think that only hit us once; compared to the previous one (which was, I think, permanent wound), it was a walk in the park. That’s 2/12 done for the Drifter.

Not much to say, really. We ran through and didn’t have much trouble doing it. Onto the Ancient Spire next time!
