Twelve Angry Zoos

I asked OpenAI’s GPT-3 to generate 31 different videogame ideas, one for each day of Blaugust, each dealing in some way with that particular day of the month. Here’s its idea for August 12th: “Twelve Angry Zoos”.

Number: 12. Genre: Arcade. Title: “12 Angry Zoos”. Outline: You play as a zookeeper who must keep 12 different zoos in 12 different cities around the world running smoothly. Each level is a timed challenge in which you must complete certain tasks before the time runs out.

Each level is the home of one of the zoo’s many different animals, and each level is its own minigame, different from the rest. In the elephant enclosure, you must use your trunk to spray water at escaping animals and put them back in their cages. In the lion’s den, you must avoid being eaten by the lions while you feed them. In the monkey enclosure, you must throw food at the monkeys while avoiding their poo.

Other animal challenges include the penguins, who must be fed fish, the giraffes, who must be watered, and the tigers, who must be given meat.

Rock ’em, Sock ’em, Elephant vs Penguin Action!

There are also challenges in the different city locations, such as cleaning up litter in New York or delivering medical supplies to a zoo in Africa.

The game is over if any of the zoos close down, and you must start again from the beginning. Like any arcade game, the goal is to get the highest score possible. To get the best score, you must complete the tasks in each level as quickly as possible and with as few mistakes as possible. Practice makes perfect! Perfect a level, and a special bonus awaits you. (No spoilers as to what the bonus is, but it’s worth the effort.)

“Twelve Angry Zoos” is a fun, fast-paced arcade game that will test your reflexes and puzzle-solving skills. It’s perfect for a quick break at work or school, or for a longer session when you have some time to spare. So round up your friends, family, or co-workers, and see who can get the highest score in “Twelve Angry Zoos”!

“Twelve Angry Zoos” is based on an earlier arcade game, “Six Angry Zoos”. In the previous title, you managed six zoos, each with its own animal challenge. The new game features twice as many zoos and animals, as well as new challenges in the different city locations. “Angry Zoos” has clear parallels to 80s arcade hit “Paperboy”, in which you must complete various tasks while avoiding obstacles. But “Twelve Angry Zoos” is its own game, with its own unique challenges (Paperboy’s main character even makes a cameo appearance in one of the levels).

Special prizes for winning: Teenage Mutant Ninja Penguins

So if you’re looking for a new arcade game to play, or if you’re a fan of “Paperboy”, be sure to check out “Twelve Angry Zoos”!

“Twelve Angry Zoos” is arriving soon at your local Funspot, but you can also play it online at www.funspot.com, or at home on your Wii U, Xbox One, or PlayStation 4.

My rating: 5 out of 6 monkey houses.

    • I’m still confused by what the heck this has to do with Paperboy… Why are the zoos angry? HOW are the zoos angry? Not one of the best AI game ideas. Tomorrow’s, though, I thought was creepy, and one of the better ones.

      • I think they’re all amazing. This series is my favorite thing about Blaugust 2022 so far.

I hesitate to ask but how does “cleaning up litter in New York” have anything to do with zoos?

        • I have no idea 🙂 I did like that the game was 12 simple minigames, I guess I’d have liked it to have gone in a Mario Party direction, but it is what it is. We come back to New York City in day 19 btw… in one of my favorite games.
