EQ2: Ganking Q’s on Nagafen

naggy.jpgLord of the Rings Online being a bore (but a pretty one) — I didn’t even last through my free month — I was desperate to get some fun back into my online gaming. My 9-year old niece suggested Neopets*, and that was fun for awhile.
My son had made a character on the EQ2 PvP server, Vox… and having a little bit of fun… I thought I’d join him there, made a character, looked at the server list and…
*GASP*
Vox was a STATION EXCHANGE SERVER (ie, SOEbay)! I mentioned this to my son and we both started characters on the “I used to play on Vox” server, Nagafen.

EQ2: Neriak, Old and New

Centuries ago, during the Age of Turmoil, the necromancers of the Tier’dal city of Neriak threw their undesirables into the outskirts of the city and shut themselves off from the world. Those undesirables — trolls, ogres, and dark elves deemed insufficiently pure by the Queen — found themselves under assault by brave, courageous, legendary, fabulous, and in all other ways the perfect paragons of pulchritude (thanks, Sanya), Halflings. Having battled the inkies in Nektulos, they invaded Neriak itself, killing and destroying what they could. The embattled Foreign Quarter of Neriak became Fallen Gate, haunted by the spirits of those who died there, betrayed by the Thexians. Now, seizing upon Lucan D’Lere’s apparent disinterest, they have returned from their centuries-long exile, and brought with them a new race, the living personifications of the darkest magics, the Arasai.
They love their Fae cousins. They make great centerpieces at any banquet.

SOE’s “The Gambler”, Vanguard-style

You gotta know when to hold ’em
Know when to fold ’em
Know when to walk away
Know when to run.
You never count your money
when you’re sitting at the table
There’ll be time enough to count it
When the dealing’s done
I am a huge fan of SOE and their games. But even I could see what was coming when SOE agreed to publish Vanguard. There was no way ever that they weren’t already thinking how they would position it when it became their own.

LotRO: Finished Book III

screenshot00143.jpg

Yes, I am rushing through Lord of the Rings Online. There’s way too much exciting stuff happening in EverQuest 2 to stay away much longer; the release of Neriak and the dark Fae; Kunark coming in the fall; LotRO has to be done and finished by then.
Book 3 deals with the fight of the Dunadain — the Rangers — against the tide of evil creatures coming from the North. They have taken over the ancient city of Fornost and are spread throughout the plains of Dol Dinan.

LotRO: Book II Finished (yay!?)

The Hobbits, we find at the end of Retake Weathertop, have made it safely to Rivendell.  With them out of harm’s way, for a time, it’s up to the numberless heroes of the world to do their part. In Book II, we find the source of the Red Marsh’s evil, the immortal Red Maid, and redeem some long-dead shades who broke an oath and must now be summoned for one final mission to save them all.
Making Aragorn look like a bit of a copycat when he does it in “Return of the King”.
