We were on our way to brunch this morning, and my son was in the back, yawning. And I got thinking — someone should make a society where you can only talk while you are yawning. Now, yawns are contagious, so when someone in this society yawns, then they can have a conversation until everyone gets it out of their system.
So most of the really good talking happens early in the morning or late at night. I believe all the really memorable conversations I’ve ever had were when we were all up way past sense and just free associating and yawns felt intrusive.
Well, they don’t have to feel intrusive. Yawns could be enablers.
Yesterday I wrote that I was thinking about swapping to Paladin as my primary class for two reasons, and two reasons only. 1) Glowy sword, and 2) fast horse. As you can see from the header image, I accomplished both those two important missions.
All new classes start at level 10, so today, I did what I normally do — head to Befallen and kill everything. Paladins are strong against the undead — very strong — so it didn’t take too long to get to 25 and start in on Mistmoore Castle.
But in there, I had an interlude. I went to Upper Guk, where I was ally with the live frogs, and I camped the Shin Lord until he dropped Ghoulbane for me. And at the end of that camp, the frogs still considered me an ally. Dumb frogs.
Ghoulbane is half of the iconic Fiery Avenger; Soulfire is the other half. And that’s a quest. A quest that requires you to be max faction with the Paladin guild in Freeport and the Cleric guild in Qeynos. Getting that faction was a whole experience that required waiting for NPCs to spawn and using all of my bone chips (and all of Kasul’s bone chips) to get the required faction.
The whole quest reaches its climax with the killing of Sir Lucan D’Lere, the head of the Freeport Militia who controls East and West Freeport. The Knights of Truth keep him from North Freeport. Now, at 20 or so, I was still too low level to kill him solo. Kasul helped, and then afterward we were both KOS in the seedier parts of Freeport. Kasul helped me with the final turn-in deep within Splitpaw, and then he left to repair his faction while I took my Soulfire to Befallen to finish the leveling there.
I didn’t really take the Soulfire, though. My Blackened Alloy Bastard Sword was still a better weapon. So — I went to the cash shop.
I went to the cash shop and bought the thing that lets you copy a weapon’s appearance, and now my BABS looks like Soulfire.
Now to see how fast I can get this combo to 50 🙂 It’ll go pretty fast in Lower Guk, I think.
